Virgil Van Dijk Has revealed a huge ambition he has here at Liverpool “I want to write history here.” Since signing for LFC he has quickly justified his price tag in many peoples eyes with excellent performances so far. Liverpool went all the way to the Champions League final last season and so far this season have started by winning every single one of their matches with defense being a massive talking point as to why Liverpool could well challenge for the Premier League Title and go one step further in the Champions League this season. “I have enjoyed every bit of it since I have arrived here and I hope we keep it going,” he said.
“I want to win things, I want to create memories here and write history as well with all these boys. Everyone is excited, everyone is feeling good, everyone wants to be part of this.
“We know the season is very long, we have four competitions to play in, and we want to win everything. That is basically our mindset, otherwise you’d better stop.
“You need to have ambitions, and with the size of this club, with the people around here and the history of the club, we want to try and win everything.
“It’s going to be something very difficult to do but we are going to just try it. That is the only way forward.”
“You need to have belief, you need to have belief in everyone in your team. If you are going to be on the pitch and don’t believe it then you’d better stay home.
“I’m enjoying every single bit of it. If you look at the team we have, if you look at the the whole squad, there are players not even in the squad who have so much potential and so much quality, it says a lot about our team.
“In the end it is about hard work, making sure everyone is there for each other and I think it started for us in the pre-season. Hopefully we can keep on going.
“There will be a day when we have downs as well, but then it is how we react. I am not worried about anything.”
Liverpool faced PSG in their first game of the Champions League campaign on Tuesday night and came away with the victory at Anfield 3-2 with many people praising the team effort and work rate to stop the very talented front line of PSG and also some great performance from players such as Daniel Sturridge who hasnt had many minutes for LFC in recent times. Van Dijk said
“I’m not going to get used to this! I think we should be very happy. The first game in the group stages is always important and we won it against a very good side.
“Everyone knew how bad Roberto’s injury was. We have very good players to fill a spot and you saw that with Studge (Daniel Sturridge).
“He scored a very important goal, worked hard for the team and that is the most important thing. When one player is out, the other one needs to be there.”
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves,” Van Dijk added.
“We have to keep both feet on the ground and keep working hard and be humble. We have started well but we can’t take anything for granted
